Maoist lawmaker down with 'cholera'

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Constituent Assembly member of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Kamala Rokka, who reached her home district Rukum leading a campaign to help the epidemic affected people, has contracted ´cholera´. Rokka contracted the disease when she reached Purdim VDC of the district on Tuesday.



According to Reban Khadka, a Rukum-based Maoist cadre, who has been taking care of her, said Rokka´s condition was serious. “However, she is recuperating at a hospital in Chaurjahari," he added. Khadka said the disease she contracted will be confirmed only after tests.

 

Maoist CA members Janardan Sharma, Bimala KC and Jun Kumari Rokka have been leading relief teams in the mid-west districts.
