KATHMANDU, March 28: Cadres of Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has taken out a rally in Butwal Saturday morning defying curfew order enforced by the local administration since Friday.
District administration, Rupandehi, imposed curfew in Butwal municipality areas and in the vicinity of the East West Highway after protests of CPN (Unified Marxist-Leninist)-affiliated Youth Force went berserk over the killing of Prachanda Thaiba Friday night. They have accused the Maoist youth wing, YCL, for the murder of the Youth Force district member.
YF activists vandalized the Maoists´ district office. They also vandalized some vehicles parked at the residence of Maoist lawmaker Top Bahadur Rayamajhi on Friday.
The longstanding uneasy relation between two largest partners of the ruling coalition -- Unified CPN-Maoist and CPN-UML -- has further strained in the wake of the killing Thaiba.
Disturbed by murder of Thaiba, top CPN-UML leaders are set to visit Butwal today to console Thaiba´s bereaved family and calm down their agitated cadres.
Meanwhile, FM stations that the UML also plans to hold a demonstration in Butwal at 3 p.m. The party leaders have decided roam in the city* with the body of Thaiba.
