'Managed airport key to success'

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: General public, who were present during the formal inauguration occasion of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 in the Capital Friday, said airports and hotels should be well managed to achieve Nepal´s target to bring in a million tourists.



The airports and hotels are the places that leave first impression in tourist minds, thus airport service, shelters and food service should be well managed, said Nara Bahadur Tamang of Balkhu, who was present during the inauguration ceremony at Dashrath Stadium.[break]



"If we provide them good service, then only tourists will be attracted to visit different destinations of the country," he said.



Maya Dhakal of Koteswor stressed for good management of all services being offered to tourists. For this, the government and all should work since it is all people´s responsibility to succeed NTY 2011, she said.



"The tourism campaign might help strengthening national economy, so we all should help the campaign," said Bindu Malla, a participant from Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.



Another participant of the programme, Shobhakhar Pandey of Gongabu underscored for making tourist-friendly environment so that those who visit Nepal will be compelled to recommend their friends in their home counter to visit Nepal.



The Maoist-led government declared to mark 2011 as NTY and brought the plan to bring a million tourists in the country.
