The house and an adjacent slaughter house of Kanchi Shahi were gutted in the fire at around 7:10 pm due to leakage in a cooking gas cylinder. [break]
The deceased have been identified as Krishna Shrestha, 55, and Sangita Shahhi, 22 who originally hail from Nawalparasi. Both of them were inside the house when the house caught fire, confirmed SP Rajendra Shrestha, chief at the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka.
The dead bodies have been sent to the Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital.
It is estimated that properties worth Rs 400,000 were destroyed in the fire, SP Shrestha told Republica.
