KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The four Madhesi parties have decided to abstain from voting for the prime minister in the parliament for the third consecutive time, our correspondent Kosh Raj Koirala reported.

With the CPN-UML deciding to stick to its stance of not voting, the election for the prime minister is likely to result in neither of the two candidates getting a majority, 300 out of the current strength of 599 members in the parliament. The CPN-UML has 109 votes and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has 82 votes.

While UCPN (Maoist)´s candidate, party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal just needs the support of the Madhesi parties to be elected, Nepali Congress´ Ram Chandra Poudel needs the support of both the UML and the UDMF.
