RAUTHAT, Aug 5: CPN-UML senior leader and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has ruled out the possiblity of revival of monarchy in the country.

Addressing a press conference organized in Rauthat Monday, Nepal said, "Former King Gynendra Shah´s visits across the country is intended at reorganizing regressive forces under the pretext of religious activities and regaining power." While meeting with locals from his electoral constituency, he said, "Our party is fully geared-up for the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) polls and hopes to win a majority.

On a different note, he accused UCPN (Maoist) of creating division among the people by raising the issue of ethnic-based federalism. "Ethnic-based federalism is problematic," said Nepal, adding, "Nepal is a multiethnic and multicultural country."

He further accused UCPN (Maoist) of ignoring the achievements of ´13 years of Maoist War´ by raising the debate of ethnic federalism.

Nepal reiterated that state should go for referendum of key contentious issues, if fresh CA also fails to draft the constitution.
