DADELDHURA, March 24: Dadeldhura locals have urged the government not to halt the West Seti Hydro Project.

The locals on Saturday obstructed vehicular movement for over two hours to stop Minister of State for Water Resources Surya Man Dong, who was on his way back from Chameliya Hyrdo Project Site, to express their concern over the project. [break]

Dong, responding to the locals, said that the government is committed to taking the 750 mega-watt project ahead. “I am happy to see people exerting pressure on the government in favor of the project,” he said.

“The project has been affected due to political interference. People of the far-west Nepal should therefore support the project.” Addressing the mass meeting, Prakash Saud, chairman of Dadeldhura FNCCI, demanded that the government correct the weaknesses of the project but not forgo it.
