Supporters of the airport have been protesting from Mid-August and had shut down the airport last week as well. The locals are also organizing relay hunger strike from last week. [break]
Coordinator of the pressure group, Krishna Mohan Shrestha said, “We will continue the protest until the government addresses our one-point demand.” Shrestha even warned of intensifying the protest in the coming days.
Although the protestors have announced their intentions close down the airport, airlines have however, has not made any formal announcement.

“We have not cancelled any flights and the booking for Friday and Saturday is really high because of the news of banda,” a senior official at one of the airlines said. If the airport is shutdown completely more than 18 flights flying to Pokhara will not be able to operate.
Responding on the call of airport shut down, ministry of culture, tourism and civil aviation has asked the agitators not to shut down airport saying protests like these would send negative message to the world.

The pressure group has meanwhile, started holding talks with leaders of Kaski based political parties. Shrestha said during the meeting the politicians said they had taken the matter seriously and were positive about the construction of the airport. They also assured the protestors of talks with central level leaders on the issue.
The group has also informed UCPN Maoist Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and chairman of CPN UML Jhalanath Khanal regarding the shutdown on Thursday and Friday.
