The company was supposed to submit its report by the end of January. But it did not materialize, due to differences between the officials of Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) and the company on some issues.[break]
Ranjan Krishna Aryal, joint-secretary of MoTCA, told Republica that the Korean company has agreed to submit its report this week. “We received confirmation from the company about report submission today," Aryal added.
About a month ago, MoTCA had accused the company of deliberately delaying report submission, seeking the ministry´s commitment to award it the construction project.
However, officials of LMW had refuted the charge, stating that their concern was simply to get priority from the government in implementation of the project as per the agreement.
“We are submitting the report as the ministry has not responded to our call for a discussion on the report before its submission,” said Binay B Rawal, a representative of LMW in Nepal.
LMW had bagged the contract to conduct feasibility study of the second international airport last year. The cost of feasibility study is estimated at $3.5 million.
The government has been planning to bring the Nijgadh-based airport into operation by 2015.
