The Workshop was organized with the purpose of increasing the networks among the painters in and outside of the Kathmandu Valley.[break]
Ganesh GC, a participating artist from Parbat, said, “The workshop acted as a great medium for connecting artists from all over Nepal. As most art activities in Nepal are capital-centered and lack the views and opinions of artists from outside the Valley.”
The participating artists resolved to build database in their local areas and expand their connections between fellow painters and perhaps even develop art hubs all over the country.
Supriya Manandhar, another participating artist from Kathmandu, said, “The workshop created a networking space where we had discussions and presentations to share art-related experiences and knowledge among ourselves. And the projects displayed today were made through collaboration between artists from the east to west Nepal.”
The five projects of the artists had an underlying theme of current socio-political issues which were displayed through alternative media such as performance and visual arts
The works displayed the issues of urbanization and the environment, the invisible threads of networking, consumerism, the increasing rules and regulations of drinking and driving as well as the system of our country being viewed as a game to play with.
Most of the projects were visual whereas the drinking and driving project was displayed through an interactive performance.
