KATHMANDU, April 5: The Kathmandu District Court on Monday ordered the police to release lesbian traffic policewoman Rubina Hussein on bail of Rs 15,000. She was released on Monday itself, her lawyer said.

Hussein has been charged with kidnapping and sexually abusing one Pujan Basnet, 17, of Chabahil, Kathmandu.

Senior Judge Lekhnath Ghimire issued the order to Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu. Hussein was arrested upon the complaint filed by Basnet´s kin that the 17-year-old had been kidnapped and sexually abused.

"She was released on the bail as the judge did not see it a case of abduction. He, however, reached a conclusion that Rubina kept the 17-year-old in her room without the approval of the latter´s guardian," said lawyer Bhuwan Prasad Niraula who pleaded on behalf of Hussein.

According to him, the judge stated that the kidnap charge against Hussein was ill-founded.

Hussein has been asked to present herself in the court on April 30.
