“There is possibility of the leftists maintaining an upper hand and imposing autocratic rule. So, democratic forces must defeat the leftists to form a new government,” said Mahat addressing a program in Chitwan. [break]
He said his party would try its best to lead the new government to be formed after August 31 or support other democratic parties.
“NC has learnt a great lesson from the UCPN (Maoist) and the CPN-UML. They should come up with a clear vision on the peace process and constitution writing. If that does not happen, NC will have no alternative other than taking to the street,” added Mahat.
He said NC is holding gatherings in the districts as the part of its preparation for protests.
Mahat said everyone should remain alert as democracy has not been institutionalized yet. He claimed conspiracies are being hatched against democracy.
