The leaders had sold three plots to raise fund for an all-party delegation to Kathmandu. The delegation was supposed to demand land ownership certificates for the locals who had settled in the forest along the highway some four decades ago.
However, Rastriya Janamorcha Party played spoilsport and organized a press conference stating it would not accept its share. It claimed leaders representing other parties in the municipality development board distributed Rs 75,000-110,000 among themselves.
Around a dozen delegates had gone to Kathmandu a couple of months ago. They stayed there for about a month to do the necessary work and shared the unspent money after they returned.

Central advisory committee member of Rastriya Janamorcha Suresh Thapa said, “We will return people´s money. We have revealed the incident deciding not to take the money.” He said representatives of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and Madhesi People´s Right Forum (MPRF) had the biggest share of Rs 110,000, while Nepali Congress took Rs 100,000 and Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist Rs 75,000.
Dang vice-president of Rastriya Janamorcha Lilamani Sharma claimed two employees of the Department of Forest had also been given Rs 75,000 each as bribe.
President of Bhalubang Municipality Development Committee Gorakh Nath Kashoudhan, however, said he had no knowledge about the incident. “I know nothing. Ask those who held the press conference,” the MPRF representative told myrepublica.com over phone.
