Lawmakers from Big 3 voice against NOC election

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Lawmakers from major three political parties have uniformly expressed their reservations over disputed election of Nepal Olympic Committee.

Speaking at the meeting of the parliament on Monday, lawmakers from Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) voiced against the general convention called for August 6 to form a parallel committee.


NC lawmaker Dhanraj Gurung claimed of economic ill-intention by holding convention by selecting representatives after forming a parallel committee keeping representatives of internationally-recognized organization in dark.

“Task of defaming Nepal at international-level is being done,” he said, demanding the Minister for Youth and Sports inform the House on the issues.

UML lawmaker Karna Bahadur Thapa drew attention to stop the convention stating that convention is being held in a clandestine manner neglecting provision to issue public notice before one month.

“Sports sector is being besmirched for vested interest,” he said, “The issues should be taken seriously.”
 
Also speaking UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Dhaniram Paudel charged that conspiracies are being hatched to induct wrong person in the committee. He further demanded Minister for Sports answer the House on the dispute of the Olympic committee.

Speaker Subas Nembang later ruled Minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Paudel to inform the parliament on the dispute in the next sitting.
