As per the deal, Land Rover will provide Rs 300,000 to NBA for a year and the latter will promote the vehicle brand during its events.
"We´ll invest the sponsorship amount in different events that we´ll be conducting during this calendar year," said NBA President Shrestha. He said NBA is hopeful of receiving more support from the sponsor in the future.
"We´ll launch talent hunt programs to produce medal-winning boxers in the days to come. We´ll seek more sponsors for these programs," Shrestha added.
More financial support for NBA
Meanwhile, NBA General Secretary Deepak Gurung informed that the association has been receiving financial support from different sectors in recent days. "A group of education consultancies provided us Rs 305,000 recently. We will use the money we´ve been getting from various donors to set up a fund for the development of boxing," said Gurung. "Former player Raj Shrestha has provided Rs 60,000 to our chief coach Om Maskey to conduct a training program for the medalists of the Sixth National Games."
However, Gurung lamented that the big corporate houses and multinational companies are not showing interest in boxing as it is an individual sport. "Boxing cannot draw large crowds like team sports but I request big corporate houses and multinational companies to support us if they want to see good results in the international arena," said Gurung.

NBA officials informed that they are organizing National Novice Boxing Tournament in Kathmandu from Wednesday. "The tournament is being organized to scout for new boxing talents," said NBA President Shrestha.
"Novices will compete in different weight events in two age groups -- 16-to-18 years and 18-to-25 years," informed boxing chief coach Maskey.
