KANCHANPUR, Sept.1: Supply of rice to the hilly districts in the far-western region has been affected due to the lack of budget for transportation.

The regional office of Nepal Food Corporation, Dhangadhi, has said it had been facing difficulty to supply rice to Baitadi, Bajhang, Darchula and Bajura after the government cut off grant amount on transportation.[break]

Presently, rice supply to these districts is less than quota, said the office.

These districts are likely to face shortage of foodstuff this year following a short supply.

Last year, the Corporation had supplied 21,603 quintal rice to these districts. But this year, the Corporation is unable to supply rice to the districts for the past few months due to budgetary constraint for transportation.
