KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) is preparing to contest the upcoming election through a direct electoral race from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Sources claim that Shah is set to resign from his post as mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City following his decision to contest the election directly.

After formally joining the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Shah is scheduled to attend the party’s central committee meeting for the first time today.
Meanwhile, Shah is preparing to file his candidacy for the House of Representatives from Jhapa Constituency No. 5. With this move, Shah is set to enter national-level politics after stepping down from his mayoral position.
