Many of the injured and other Maoists who lost their family members during the insurgency said that they were disappointed when the Constituent Assembly was dissolved in May last year without producing a new constitution and expressed hope that the Maoist party´s ongoing convention would conclude devising appropriate political line.[break]
Stating that leaders from UCPN (Maoist) as well as other major parties had blundered by not producing new constitution from the CA, they expected that the ongoing general convention would adopt a policy of completing the unfinished task of promulgating new constitution from an elected CA.
Jhankar Rawal from Achham district, who lost his younger sister during the insurgency, still wants to see a constitution written by a CA.
"My younger sister lost her life during the insurgency. Now, at least her children should experience peace and prosperity in the country," said Rawal. "I hope, this convention will pave the way for the same."
Khadga Bahadur Magar is not so excited during the general convention because whereabouts of some of his friends, who were involuntarily disappeared during the insurgency, is still unknown. The whereabouts of his friends Dhana Adhikari, Tara Rijal, Chaturman Rajbangshi and Lakhan Chaudhary, all of whom were arrested during the insurgency, is still unknown. He said it is yet not clear whether they were killed or freed.
"At present, there is no suppression in the villages like during the insurgency but there is no excitement either because many friends with whom we worked together are still missing," said Magar. According to him, the family members of the disappeared, those who lost their kin or limbs are facing hardships.
Most of them wanted a constitution from CA and formation of truth and reconciliation commission for imparting justice to the victims.
