PYUTHAN, March 30: The family members of Namadevi Pokharel, who was killed in a stray bomb blast on March 17, have demanded a thorough and rapid investigation into the case. Nearly two weeks have elapsed since the incident but the concerned authorities are still clueless about who carried out the blast.

Pokharel, 62, of Okharkot VDC-5, who was caught in explosion near his house at Alubari, had died instantly before any help could arrive.

Talking during a press meet held on Sunday, Pokharel's family members urged the security personnel to intensify the ongoing investigation. During an hour-long meeting with police, the family members complained that police were not taking the matter seriously.

"Had the security personnel given heed to the matter, the perpetrator would have been already behind bars by now. They need to intensify the search," said Pokharel's elder son, Bishnu Prasad Pokharel.

During the meeting, Pokharel demanded that a high-level committe be formed to resolve the case. Namadevi was caught in the explosion while she was heading for work.

"The bomb was placed intentionally. Local authority should deploy both police and locals and catch the real culprit without further delay," said Bishnu. He rejected suggestions that the bomb could be an abandoned one from the insurgency-era.
