Khanal appointed PM's economic adviser

KATHMANDU, Sept 27: A cabinet meeting appointed former finance secretary Rameshwor Khanal Prime Minister’s economic adviser on Tuesday.



The meeting also decided to extend the ceiling for purchase of realty without income source disclosure  to Rs. 10 million and purchase of vehicles to Rs. 5 million.[break]



Khanal had resigned from the post of finance secretary due to differences with former finance minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari.



Meanwhile, a cabinet meeting on Tuesday formed three-member committee to investigate the murder of Faizal Ahmed. The meeting also entrusted the responsibility of providing relief to Ahmed’s family and ensuring high security.



The meeting also decided to provide Rs. 7,500 as the uniform allowances for all civil servants regardless of their posts scrapping earlier decision of different allowances.
