KATHMANDU, June 2: Columnist and writer Khagendra Sangraula’s novel “Fulmaya” has been republished after 37 years. The novel was titled earlier as “Aamako Chhatpati.”

Sangraula started his career as a fiction writer. Although he is widely known for his regular and prolific newspaper columns, he also writes short stories, novels, memoirs, and political commentaries.[break]

Sangraula said, “I wrote this novel during my initial writing days. I was a novice then. Therefore, I read it again, and rewrote it considerably to make it more precise and intact. I’m confident that readers will be satisfied with my efforts.”

“Fulmaya” is based on village lifecycles. He wrote the novel when he was teaching in Bandipur. Sangraula has incorporated local characters in the novel.

“I don’t know if they are still alive or not, but they are in my fiction,” said the writer, now 67. He further added, “I’m not boasting, but this work is a milestone of my writing career.”

“Fulmaya” is launched by Orchid Books of Kathmandu.
