Khadka likely to win NBA prez

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Democratic panel´s candidate Prem Bahadur Khadka is leading the vote count in the election for president of Nepal Bar Association. Khadka, who contested from the democratic panel, is leading with 1,358 votes while Hari Krishna Karki, contesting from the leftist panel, is following with 951 votes. Ram Nath Mainali is third with 345. Mainali is close to the Maoists.



Similarly Sitaram Rai leads for the post of vice-chairman in the eastern region with 1,357 votes while Surendra Kumar Mahato leads in the central region with 1,333 votes.



Likewise, Gopal Prasad Pandey is leading in the western region with 1,422 votes, Gokarna Dangi leads in mid-western with 1,363 and Joharilal Chaudhary in the far-western region with 1,478 votes.



Likewise, Bijaya Prasad Mishra leads the vote count for the post of general-secretary with 1,372 votes while his opponent Hari Phuyal has 1022 votes so far.



For the post of treasurer, Yuvaraj Kumar Bhandari is leading the count with 1,326 votes. “We are likely to lose the election,” said an advocate close to the Karki panel.



According to advocate Rabiraj Bhandari, election officer for the NBA poll, the final result of the vote count will be declared on Thursday evening.
