Kaski DAO to punish polluters

POKHARA, Nov 24: Kaski District Administration Office (DAO) on Saturday warned of taking actions against those residents of Pokhara who dump their garbage into the Fewa Lake.



Kaski´s Chief District Officer (CDO) Basanta Raj Gautam said that he will invoke Public Offense Act to take action against those who are caught throwing wastes into the lake. [break]



Gautam, who took part in an initiative to clean the lake on Saturday, said, “First, we will appeal to people living close to the lake not to dump garbage there. If they ignore our appeal and continue to pollute the lake, we will charge them under Public Offense Act.”



Many Pokhara residents throw wastes into the Seti canal, which leads to the lake.
