Jumla tense as protesters hurl stones at police

JUMLA, Aug 15: Tension has gripped Khalanga, the district headquarters, on Saturday afternoon after protesters against the inclusion of Karnali zone in far-west province and demanding separate Karnali province, hurled stones at security personnel.

Demonstrators hurled stones at police near District Administration Office. However, no one has sustained injuries. Police, then resorted to baton charge to maintain order.


Agitators have warned the top leaders of dire consequences for turning a deaf ear toward their demands.

Meanwhile, political parties here have asked protesters to maintain peace.
