Jumla registers 925 temporary voters for March 5 polls

The temporary voters are the civil employees, prisoners and inmates, and security personnel. They are planning to cast votes under the proportional category for the March 5 House of Representatives (HoR) election from the temporary voting centres.

JUMLA, March 2: There are 925 temporary voters- those having original constituencies in other districts -- in the mountainous district, Jumla. 



For such voters, the local authority has managed two voting centres in the district, according to Election Officer Dipendra Kandel. 


The temporary voters are the civil employees, prisoners and inmates, and security personnel. They are planning to cast votes under the proportional category for the March 5 House of Representatives (HoR) election from the temporary voting centres.

The temporary voting centres are set up at Food and Trade Company's branch office, Khalanga, and the District Prison Office. 


The total number of voters in the district stands at 71,739. As many as 654 employees have been mobilized to conduct the voting. In the district having only one constituency, nine political parties and one independent candidate are in the fray. 


Meanwhile, the District Administration Office, Jumla has banned the sale and distribution of alcohol till the completion of voting on March 5. 


Chief District Officer Dipak Paudel said that the alcohol use, sale and distribution were prohibited in a bid to make the March 5 election free, fair and peaceful.
