Deepak Krishna Shrestha and Sunita Magar are the Nepali players to compete in the event, while Surya Narayan Shrestha is the coach of the team and Nepal Judo Association (NJA) Treasurer Bipin Prasad Shrestha is the team manager.
The team will be accompanied by NJA President Deepak Harsha Bajracharya, who is also the vice-president of Judo Union of Asia. Bajracharya will participate in the congress of International Judo Federation (IJF), the apex body of judo in the world.[break]
The players and officials have taken the event as an opportunity to gain experience.Shrestha, who will compete in men´s 81 kg, said he wants to gain experience from the championship and that his aim is to win gold medal in the upcoming South Asian Games (SAG). "I hope the experience of World Championship will boost my morale for the SAG," said Shrestha, who has been undergoing closed camp training since more than a year ago. "Best players of the world will compete in the event. Rather than eying medal we should try to gain experience."
Shrestha had earlier competed in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. He had won bronze medal in the 11th South Asian Games and gold in team event during the South Asian Judo Championship held in Pakistan. Shrestha had also competed in the 2009 Asian Judo Championship in Taiwan and the 2006 South Asian Judo Championship in India.
Magar will be competing in the women´s 63 kg category. "It is a great opportunity for judokas to compete in the World Championship and I will try to give my best," said the 20-year-old. It will be Magar´s first international participation since the 2007 Youth Championship in Yemen. Before that, she had won a bronze medal in the Rajiv Gandhi International Invitational Championship in India.
