Journos burn PM, AG effigies

DAILEKH, Jan 16: Agitating journalists burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and Attorney General Mukti Pradhan accusing them of trying shield the killers of Dailekh scribe Dekendra Thapa, in Jajarkot on Wednesday.



A protest rally was taken out in Jajarkot that was also participated by cadres of various political parties, teachers, students, businessmen and civil society members. The protesters, who wore black armband, shouted slogans lauding the Supreme Court’s ruling Tuesday, in which the apex court ordered the government not to obstruct the probe into the journalist´s killing. The rally was organized by the Jajarkot chapter of Press Chautari Nepal. Rajendra Karki, president of Jajarkot chater of Federation of Nepali Journalists, said the protest is aimed to put an end to impunity and that Tuesday’s SC ruling has boosted their hope that the journalist’s killers will be brought to book.
