KATHMANDU, March 26: The Nepal office of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has turned 40, it said in a statement on Friday.

“In September 1970, four young Japanese volunteers came to Nepal as the first Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV). Nepal was the 11th host country of this program. Forty years later, more than 1,000 young and senior Japanese volunteers have followed in their footsteps,” JICA Nepal Office said in the statement.

JOCVs have played an active role as development partners in Nepal´s socio-economic development process and made valuable contributions by sharing their skills, expertise and technical know-how in various fields.
