UDAYAPUR, March 23: Jhapa XI was crowned First Katari Gold Cup Football Championship title following its 4-2 tie-breaker win over Banepa Boys Club in Katari on Sunday. The regulation time had seen both teams settling for a goalless stalemate. Karna Limbu, Devendra Tamang, Dylan Loktan and Buddharaj Limbu converted their penalty takes for Jhapa.

Banepa scored its two goals through Surajsingh Lama and Nigerian player Lawal. With triumph, Jhapa bagged a cash award of Rs 100,000 as Banepa received Rs 75,000. Banepa’s Nigerian player Victor was adjudged best player of the tournament. He was awarded a mountain bike and Rs 13,000.
Karna Limbu took highest goal scorer award with five goals. He was also awarded a mountain bike. Katari’s Pratik Magar was awarded emerging player award.
