According to Khanal’s aide, Rambabu Adhikary, Khanal will be visiting 15 Village Development Committees of the constituency one by one for the next 16 days. The campaign begins Saturday morning. Khanal will visit Gorkhe VDC on Saturday and Shriantu VDC on Sunday.
Chairman Khanal is attending a function to be organized by the party’s regional committee this evening to apprise him of CPN-UML’s position in the district, party sources said. It is learnt that Khanal’s main rival is Himalaya Karmacharya, candidate from Nepali Congress.
Similarly, UCPN (Maoist)’s Yubakumar Poudel is also contesting from the same constituency. Khanal won last CA election from the same constituency pocketing 17,655 votes, whereas his nearest rival got 14,000 votes. There are a total of 14 polling stations in Khanal’s constituency.
