Das, one of the 31 injured in the blast that instantly killed four people on Monday, was airlifted to Kathmandu hours after the incident. Das´ death has shocked the villagers in Bega Shivapur.
Following Das´ death, villagers came to Janakpur and staged demonstration demanding that Das be declared a martyr. They have also demanded compensation for the victim´s family and punishment for those involved in the blast.
Like the four who died on the spot, Das was also the sole breadwinner of his family. His death has orphaned his two sons -- four-year-old Aman and two-year-old Aayush.
After returning from the Gulf six years ago, Das had bought two tractors for farming. He had taken a loan of Rs 1.5 million from a bank. He has yet not paid off his loan.
Das´s wife Pramila, 30, has now been forced to fend for her family.
