Pritam Bista of Barbhanjyang VDC, who was serving jail term on charge of raping a seven-year-old girl, was killed in the incident, according to DSP Ishwari Chapagain. He was shot dead after he did not pay heed to police warning to stop from fleeing.
Meanwhile, a four-member committee has been formed under chairmanship of Assistant Chief District Officer Thaman Singh Thapa to probe into the incident.
