Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Friday, Nirakar Yakthumba, representative of Life Cycle Nepal, informed that the event will feature downhill and cross-country events for professionals and fun riders.Yakthumba informed that the event is being organized to promote mountain biking in Nepal.
The hosts said that nearly 150 cyclists will take part in the cross-country event and nearly 50 will vie for the downhill event.
The total cash prize of the event will be Rs 10,00,000 and one person from all participants will get a chance to win a mountain bike through lucky draw, according to Yakthumba.
Meanwhile, Sunil Sharma, representative of Nepal Tourism Board, said that the event will also help to inform foreigners that the country is safe for adventure and other tourism activities despite the recent devastating earthquake.
Likewise, Santosh Ranjitkar of Fantastic Nepal Holidays said that the event will help promote sports tourism as Nepal has natural terrain for mountain bike.
