Indian tourists cut trip short

POKHARA, May 13: The impact of banda was the worst in Pokhara as hundreds of Indian tourist planning to go to Chitwan and Kathmandu after visiting Muktinath shortened their trip and went back to India .



Om Prakash Pandey of Hotel Landmark in Pokhara said,"“Forty Indian tourists in my hotel were planning to visit Kathmandu and Chitwan but they left today shortening the trip by five days and cancelling the hotel booking of those places.[break]



Tourism entrepreneurs of Pokhara were disappointed after large number of Indian tourist preparing to come to Pokhara via surface returned from the entry point following the strike.



Hari Sharma, vice-president of Pashchimanchal Hotel Association Pokhara (PHAP) said,“Number of groups returned to India from the border after they couldn´t come to Pokhara because of the strike"” Sharma who also operates Pokhara Village Resort observed the cancellation of 100 guests. He said those who had checked in on Wednesday also returned during night.



Aviation industry also felt the impact of the strike. The cancellation was severe in Pokhara-Jomson sector widely traveled by foreign tourists. Agni Air cancelled the booking of 85 Indian tourists in the sector after they couldn´t come to Pokhara.



“The cancellation in Pokhara-Jomsom sector all came in last moment after the strike"” said Prakash Paudel of Satyam Tours and Travels. Agni Air which was operating 14 flights a day in this sector cancelled 8 flights because of the last moment cancellation.
