Indian leaders meet prez

NEW DELHI, Feb 2: Responding to the growing concerns of the Indian leadership on the political crisis in Nepal, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has assured them that a political consensus will emerge for the formation of a new government in Nepal which will conclude the peace process and help in writing the new constitution within the stipulated timeframe.



On the second day of his arrival in New Delhi, Dr Yadav held meeting with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at Hyderabad House. [break]



According to Foreign Secretary, Madan Bhattarai, Dr Singh expressed concerns regarding the peace process and constitution drafting. The two also discussed the integration process of the PLA combatants after the departure of UNMIN from Nepal.



“Dr Singh raised concern over the integration of the combatants after the departure of UNMIN,” Bhattarai told Republica after the meeting. He also added, “A bilateral review of the relation between the two countries took place in the meeting.”



Earlier, the Chairperson of UPA Sonia Gandhi called upon the President. Likewise, the Vice-President of India, Leader of Opposition ( Lok Sabha) Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs S M Krishna called upon the President.



A banquet was hosted by Indian President Pratibha Patil in honor of her counterpart.
