Indian home secy inspects customs check post in Raxual

BIRGUNJ, Dec 1: Indian Home Secretary Rajkumar Singh inspected the under construction Birgunj-Raxaul Integrated Customs Check Post at Pantoka in the Indian border town of Raxaul on Friday.



There is a plan to develop the check post in Birgunj as model with modern facilities, which is at the shortest distance from Kolkata port of India.[break]



The distance to Birgunj from Kolkata port is 924 kms, whereas the distance to other customs of Nepal is more than this.



India has moved ahead works by acquiring land by the concerned sides in India and Nepal for the project some distance away from dense settlements. The project is being constructed with Indian cooperation.



India had proposed for building integrated customs check posts with modern facilities including dry port in four places including Birgunj, in Bhirahawa, Nepalgunj and Biratnagar.
