Indian FM Mukherjee not coming on Saturday

KATHMANDU, June 16: Indian Finance Minister is not coming to Kathmandu on Saturday as reported in some section of media. Foreign Secretary Dr Madan Kumar Bhattarai said there is no truth in the news reports.



“It is baseless,” said Bhattarai when asked if Mukherjee was coming on Saturday.



Indian Embassy Spokesperson also said, “He is not coming.” Sources close to the prime minister, however, said Minister Mukherjee is visiting Kathmandu, but not this early.



“He [Minister Mukherjee] is scheduled to visit Kathmandu at the invitation of Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari. But his visit is yet to be worked out,” said the sources.



Indian Finance Minister Mukherjee is supposed to come to Nepal to sign an agreement on US$ 250 million credit line offered by Indian government to Nepal.
