Indian envoy returns home

KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad returned to home on Monday afternoon after completing his tenure in Nepal.



Charge d´affaires at the Indian embassy in Kathmandu, Jayadeep Majumdar and foreign ministry officials saw off him at the Tribhuwan International Airport. Prasad has also been retired from Indian foreign service on Monday. Prasad assumed office as Indian ambassador to Nepal on 25 August, 2011.



India has already appointed Ranjit Rae as the new ambassador to Nepal. Sources at the foreign ministry said that Rae is arriving Kathmandu first week of September to take up his assignment. [break]



Born in 1957, Rae joined Indian Foreign Service in 1980. Prior to Nepal, Rae recently served as Indian ambassador to Vietnam since June, 2010. Previously, he served in different capacities at various Indian missions abroad including in Uganda, New York and Budapest.
