The tournament will feature five development regions -- Eastern, Central, Western, Mid-Western and Far-Western -- and Nepal Armed Police Force Club. The teams are divided in two groups where the winner of each group will qualify for the final.[break]
Indian Embassy will bear the cost of the players´ transportation and provide daily allowances of Rs 800 to each player. CAN has been providing Rs 400 as daily allowances during the national games.
The winner of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 150,000 while the runner-up will receive Rs 100,000. Man-of-the-series will be awarded Rs 25,000 while man-of-the-match in each match will get Rs 2,500 while man-of-the-final will receives Rs 5,000.
General Secretary of CAN, Ashok Nath Pyakurel, said that the tournament will be an exposure for the players prior to the national games.
“This tournament will put a brick in the Nepali cricket.” When asked if the tournament wont be too immediate after the national team´s ongoing India tour, Pyakurel said that the more matches they play, the better will be their game.
Apurva Shrivastav, first secretary of Indian Embassy, said that they will continue the tournament every year. President of CAN Tanka Aangbuhang said that the tournament is the first step in the development of cricket. “If we coordinate with Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) we can develop cricket as Afghanistan did.”
