India to lift ‘unofficial blockade'

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: India  is set to lift ‘unofficial blockade’ imposed on Nepal from border entry points except Birgunj.

Indian government has directed its agencies to ensure smooth operation of import and export from other border points except Birgunj saying that political activities still persists at the entry point.

Nepali Ambassador to India Deep Kumar Upadhyay said Indian officials have informed him that supply of goods to Nepal will be eased at the soonest.

Indian government had been claiming that it had not enforced blockade on Nepal but, transportation of cargo vehicles was halted due to obstruction at customs offices.
