BIRATNAGAR, April 5: A group of students vandalized the Eastern Regional Office of the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) on Monday.

The students demanded the facility to re-allocate the examination centers for the Grade XI and XII examinations. HSEB published the examination center a month ago with a notice that no student would be allowed to change the center.

The students vandalized the reception area and threw out the nameplate and wall-clock of office chief Hari Sharan Wagle.

Until last year, HSEB changed exam center for students who were either employed or whose parents were employed in different region.

“We have sent their demands to the central office, but despite that they try to force us,” Wagle said. “We cannot change center ourselves.”

After the vandalism, police deployed a team for the security of the office. Students clashed with the police in which assistant inspector Kaji Basnet was injured.

Police have arrested a student in this connection.
