House panel monitoring market from today

KATHMANDU, Aug. 1: The subcommittee on labor, transport, industry, commerce and supply under the Committee on Finance and Labor Relations of the Legislature-Parliament has started monitoring market in the capital from Monday morning.



Coordinator of the subcommittee, Shanta Basnet, said the market monitoring was started to control the black marketing and take action against the businesspersons involved in unfair business. [break]



Basnet said the subcommittee has begun monitoring market to facilitate government control over artificial price hike in commodities. It will also monitor adulteration in the dairy products.



Basnet said the subcommittee decided to monitor market following frequent complaints from consumers though the District administration office, Kathmandu Metropolis, Department of Commerce, Department of Standards and Metrology, Department of Food Technology and Quality Control have the legal rights to carry out the task.
