Speaking at a press conference organized in the capital on Sunday, officials of Taragaon Development Committee said more than 150 participants, including home stay operators, tourism entrepreneurs, media persons and government officials, will participate in the two-day workshop. They also said home stay tourism would help uplift socio-economic status of people in rural areas.
Experts are presenting working papers on different issues related to home stay in the workshop for discussion. Similarly, the participants of the program will also visit homes in Kapan that have been offering home stay facility.
As many as 47 organizations have registered with concerned authorities to operate home stay facility after the MoTCA issued Home Stay Guidelines. Some more are in the process of registration for operating community-run home stay. Home stay tourism is expected to cater to 40 percent of the total tourists during Nepal Tourism Year 2011.
