“The government should start peace talks with the armed outfits to resolve this problem,” Gupta told reporters at his residence in Biratnagar. [break]
He said the government should utilize the peace process to resolve all types of conflict in the country.
“We are ready to play a mediator´s role between armed outfits and the government for peace talks,” Gupta added.
He claimed Madhes-based parties are holding discussions with the armed outfits who have expressed willingness to start peace talks with the government.
Gupta said the outfits that are considered criminal groups would be recognized as political forces if the government invites them for discussions.
He claimed the previous peace talks failed because the government was not honest in its endeavor.
