RUKUM EAST, March 21: Heavy snowfall has blocked the Mid-Hill Highway in Rukum East. The Lukum–Patihalna section in Bhume Rural Municipality-1 has been impassable since last night due to continuous snowfall.
Siddhicharan highway blocked since three days
The District Police Office, Rukum East, reported that dozens of vehicles and passengers are stranded. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Keshab Raj Gyawali, buses traveling from Kathmandu are stuck in the area. Seven buses, one jeep, and five motorcycles are trapped, leaving more than 250 passengers stranded.
Continuous rain and snowfall are making road clearance difficult, and phone services in the area are also disrupted, adding to the challenges. DSP Gyawali said authorities are coordinating with local bodies to rescue the stranded passengers.
