The UDMF leaders maintain that the government has not responded to their demands that they have already submitted in writing to the government. The three parties representing the government and the UDMF leaders had last held talks on November 18.
No meetings have taken place after the leaders agreed to resolve all the issues in a package in the last meeting. After the meeting between the three parties and the UDMF could not yield any fruits, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UDMF leaders and opposition party Nepali Congress and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli have held talks several times.
Minister for Information and Communications Sher Dhan Rai, who is also the spokesperson of the government, said the government has held talks informally with Madhesi Front. According to him the talks with the UDMF will resume in few days.
Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur has been holding informal talks with NC President Sushil Koirala and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of late.
NC has appealed all the parties to address the demands of the Medhesi Front through endorsement of the statute amendment bill that Koirala-led government had registered in the parliament.
