Govt studying possibility for cooperative schools: Minister

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Education Minister Ganga Lal Tuladhar said schools can also be run through the cooperative model in line with the three-pillar economic policies.



The government has been studying to give licences to schools on the basis of cooperative model, he said speaking at an interaction organised on the eve of the fourth anniversary of ABC Television in the Capital on Friday.[break]



He said preparations for an all-side conference to end the problems of the education sector were in final phase. The minister also said he committed to increase quality of education and make monitoring process effective.



At the programme, education expert Prof Dr Tirtha Khaniya urged the government to unveil a university umbrella act to end the confusions enveloping universities.



Chairman of All Nepal National Independent Student Union-Revolutionary Himal Sharma said that the teachers working in community schools for more than 20 years should be laid off to better education quality of community schools.



Chairman of All Nepal Free Student Union Madhav Dhungel stressed for an education revolution for education reform.



Former Chairman of Nepal Student Union Pradeep Poudel said the political parties should not interfere in the education sector.
