KATHMANDU, Feb 14: The government has approved a million-rupee cultural program for peace proposed by the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction.

Taking up a proposal presented by Minister Janardan Sharma, the cabinet last Wednesday approved the program, according to an official at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

“The program has been conceived in order to implement the budget of the current fiscal year that has proposed cultural programs for peace,” Shrestha said.

The program, whose modality is still in its infancy, would be launched within the current fiscal year to “strengthen” the ongoing peace process and to spread the message of peace across the country, according to Hari Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson at the ministry.
