RAUTAHAT, Oct 30: Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Chairman Mahanta Thakur on Thursday blamed the government of not being serious about the genuine demands of Madhesis.
Civic leaders for addressing Madhes issues before elections
Addressing a press meet organized in Birgunj, Thakur, a leader of agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), said that the government's decision to import petroleum products from China instead of trying to resolve the country's own crisis shows how serious it was toward addressing demands of the Madhesi people.
The formal and informal talks between the UDMF and the government time and again have ended inconclusively in absence of concrete roadmap for talks, Thakur informed the media.UDMF leader Thakur further said that the protests across Madhes will continue until the government addresses the demands of the Madhesis.
"As the country promulgated the new constitution ignoring past agreements between the government and the Madhesi parties, it has pushed the country into stalemate," Thakur added.
