Issuing a directive today, the government ruled that civil servants should refrain from posting the statuses on Facebook and Twitter that would provoke social harmony and jeopardize religious and cultural values in view of the strikes and bands being staged across the country.
The government has concluded that the recently posted statuses on social media have been found provocative which have further fueled the ongoing unrest in the country.
The government has called on the civil servants to refrain from posting, liking or sharing views that would further jeorpadize social harmony among the people, said a statement issued today.
Bill bars local units from recruiting civil servants
This directive is not only limited to civil servants but also to the whole government service holders including Nepal Army, Nepal Police, teachers and corporation staffers, said Uttam Kumar Khatri, spokesperson at the Council of Ministers.
The OPMCM has issued this directive at the request of the Home Ministry.
Actions against those staffers violating the directive will be taken under the respective by-laws and regulations.
This decision has been taken in view of the flurry of provocative and insulting reactions expressed through social media in connection with the 10 security personnel and 29 people who lost their lives during the ongoing Tarai unrest.
